twice a year, the OOAK show rolls into toronto which means leesh and i take a trip to the exhibition place to see what's going down. it's been "our thing" for the past 3 shows and started with me tweeting about getting free tickets, leesh volunteering to come with and a beautiful tradition was born. for the most part, the vendors who appear are regulars but this time, some new vendors made their way and they changed the set-up a bit.
i didn't have much to buy but i took some money anyway. the thing about these shows - while i totally support local businesses - is that some vendors charge way too much for their products. i get that they're trying to make a profit but come on, their mark-up must be 200% and if they only lowered their prices to more competitive ones, i'm sure they'd have a bunch of people climbing over each other. there's a vendor who sells these great insulated lunch bags and each time i've passed by, wanted to purchase one but it's freaking $42 and it doesn't even come with lunch. i could simply go to walmart and get one of equal size and equal insulation for $12. instead, i put it back on the hook and walk away. however, if that was being sold for $20, i would totally get one and one for my mother too. sometimes the price isn't right; just sayin'.
the few vendors i always flock to are the peeps who make hubs' shortbread, foxy originals, our new fav find: froosh bath and body products and always to visit galpal lily of bamboo lily, who makes great baby clothes out of soft and gentle bamboo material. the rest of the show is just browsing and checking out what each vendor has. lookie at my goodies:
froosh body butters: coconut lime and peppermint foot butter
the matter company: all-natural lip balm
foxy originals: jade necklace
schick razors: free samples yay!
we were both pretty surprised at how conservative we were but i love my necklace and can't wait to dig into the body butters. i already blew through the green tea, currently using my vanilla with mango on standby and also sent a couple to some bloggy pals.
