peoples! i'm back!
10 days of glorious, hot and sunny orlando weather and i have to come back to cold toronto major suckage weather. it sucks balls. and because i refuse to believe that my vacay is over, i'm wearing shorts right now even though it's only 8C. moving on.
the good news is that it's canadian thanksgiving weekend so today is a holiday for everyone and because i'm such a brilliant, forward-thinking person, i booked an extra two days off which means i don't go back to work until thursday which also means i only have to work two days this week! boom boom pow.
this is going to be the fastest recap in the world because i know you all don't want to hear about how amazing it was for the kids or how 3 families spent 7 glorious days in a 3-bedroom villa and because it was so awesome last year, we extended our stay for another 3 days and moved our asses to an even better 2-bedroom villa.
i know you all don't want to hear about hard we raped the outlets or the awesome stuff i managed to score despite the sucky prices because we were 1 week early from all the columbus day sales. just kidding, i wouldn't deny you guys a peek at my haul but i'll spare you the deets of the kid stuffs.
awesome things about orlando 2013:
1// the electric parade and fireworks at Magic Kingdom. the photos say it all.
2// project X roller coaster at Legoland. just look at this pic. kayla is finally at a height where she can go on fun rollercoasters, not those lame-ass, zero speed kiddie roller coasters at wonderland.
3// the fact that i didn't do shit for 10 days. i turned off work email notifications, relaxed as much as i could and despite me bringing workout gear, didn't lift or run a damn thing.
4// stuck to my clean eating 99.5% of the time. that .5% was 1/4 of kayla's ice cream, we were at legoland, it was hot as fuck and i needed something to cool myself down otherwise i was going to combust. other than that, no chips, desserts, pop, nothing.
5// shopping. my outlet agenda this year was different and my focus was getting workout gear on the cheap, specifically Under Armor because UA gear gives me a major boner. despite the shitty prices, i managed to score a few things:
Cole Haan messenger bag. i love me messenger bags for the fall. i worked the sales guy down from $139 to $98. i remembered him from last year when he gave me a great deal on a bag and our conversation basically went like this:
me: hey, i remember you from last year.
him: oh really? how come?
me: you gave me a great deal on a bag that i bought. btw, how much is this messenger bag?
him: really! oh, that's $139.
me: oh *sadface*. i like the price you gave me last year better.
him: and what was that?
me: $98 for the white shoulder bag.
him: ok, then $98 it is. it was nice of you to remember me.
under armor had the shittiest "sales" but i did manage to find these gems: running short sleeve shirt for $15 and another NSV of the year: kids (girls) size L running tights for $27.99. there was nothing in the womens section under $30 so i figured i'd try my luck in the kids section and couldn't believe when i put on size L running tights and they fit perfectly!
my hubs got me these on his shopping excursion. that man is a smart one, let me tell you. he knew i was in the market for some running long sleeves and headed into the Burton outlet because snowboarders need to wear wicking baselayers. i didn't even think about that!
i have been looking for running gloves for almost a year but didn't want to cough up the $29 they were asking for them. these were a cool $15 which gave me the major happies.
and quite possibly the coolest shirt ever: Columbia thermal outdoor shirt.
it contains a fabric called Omni-heat (those little silver dots) and is supposed to reflect your own body heat which in turn, regulates your temperature while wicking moisture away. it sort of reminds me of those foil-wrap things you use for hypothermic people. hubs tried his out today during his ride and he said that it totally works! so excited to use this during my trail run next sunday.
not so awesome things about orlando 2013:
1// the driving. why doesn't anyone signal when they change lanes?
2// the roads. you're driving in a lane and then bam! you find yourself in a left-turn lane without any warning and it's a bitch to get out. no warnings that the lane eventually changes into a left turn either. eventually we got used to it but having to navigate that kinda sucked. we asians don't fare well in traffic to begin and, well, you know how that goes.
3// tolls tolls and more tolls. look, i know the money collected from tolls go towards paying for road maintenance and all that shit but making you pay for a toll when your exit is only a 1/4mile from the toll? EXTORTION. we eventually found our way around the toll booths and yes, i know it's only $1.00 or $1.25 but didn't you read what i wrote earlier? we asians are cheap ass motherfuckers.
4// the fact that i didn't do shit for 10 days (in terms of exercise). when i go on vacay, i go on vacay so i forced myself not to workout. i felt a little guilty doing this - it was the longest break from working out that i've ever taken and it felt strange not to get up early and bust my ass but at the same time it felt good, too. i did ease my mind by reminding myself that i balanced it all out with clean eating and the fact that i did like, 8hrs of walking in the hot sun every other day.
major ass-blowing things about orlando 2013:
1// for serious guys, WHAT'S WITH ALL THE DRAKE PLAYING ALL DAY ERRDAY ON THE GODDAMN RADIO?! it's like he had his own dedicated radio station which was like, EVERY FUCKING STATION. as you can tell, i hate Drake. i hate his music, the way he talks and how much of a poser he is. despite what he says, he did NOT come from the streets; he actually grew up in an affluent neighbourhood in toronto and somehow managed to blow the right person that put him on the map.
2// park prices. ok, i get that disney is the happiest place on earth but it's also the most expensive too and they raised their prices. as in it basically cost $100 PER PERSON. as in next year, you'll have to give $100 plus a handjob because that's how much they're raping you. the cheap chinaman in me got no time fo' dat so we went the black market route and got semi-legit tickets and prayed to the disney gods to let us through.
3// internet and cellular connection. ok, i get the hotels cheap out on wifi so i can live with that. i still managed to get my shows so suck on that, hotels!! but the cellular connection? BLOWS ASS BALLS. slow as fuck, frustrating as hell and half the time, my shit wouldn't even go through. we may pay more here in canada for data plans but our connections are faster than a premature ejaculator.
and now, it's back to our regularly scheduled programming [cue booing and hissing]. it was pretty tough getting up to workout this morning but i did it anyway and you know what? 10 days of inactivity really takes a toll on your endurance and strength. the full body strength and conditioning workout is tough but was even tougher this morning. let's hope my routine goes back to normal fast!
happy thanksgiving to my canadian peeps and hope the rest of you had a fantastic weekend!
