behold my death sentence.
as of next week, i'll be doing jillian michaels' 30 day shred. translated, this means a slow, painful torture where by day 30, you are invited to my funeral. based on the reviews, each daily workout is 30 minutes of weights and cardio geared to tear your ass up, sculpt your body and make you wish hateful shit on ms. michaels. this appealed to me because it boasts results without a long, tedious and annoying workout.
my journey towards a healthier me has been a slow, yet successful one and by slow, i mean doing it right through proper diet and exercise. because i'm way lazy and anything remotely overwhelming exercise-wise will just make me not want to do it at all, i started out with a short, yet intense 4-minute tabatas routine which embarrassingly, was hard. as i got used to exercising regularly, i incorporated my treadmill and last week, i started planking. bikinis, get ready for me to wear the shit out of you.
last week i discovered that i lost 5 pounds (but gained 2 back because of muscle development) and i can now fit into my size 4 jeans without feeling like a stuffed sausage (holla!). because the scale always lies to me, i ignore it (as well as the BMI chart bullshite) and instead, i go by how my clothes fit and how i feel. i've also noticed that my mid-section seems smaller and less jiggly tighter. these slight differences provides a huge incentive for me to continue with my program and push myself when all i want to do is lie down and do nothing. although the pounds aren't dropping as quick as i'd like them to, the trade-off is that i've now fully (re)adapted to a healthy lifestyle that used to be a struggle for me to maintain.
and now, i'm ready to up my workouts and have jillian michaels kick my ass. a few friends on twitter have decided to do this 30-day shred with me! misery loves company and what better way to stay motivated than knowing your friends are suffering with you! i'll be posting my progress (along with my whining and complaining) every friday. if you want to join the challenge, feel free to link up. monday we start!
alright jillian michaels, bring it; we's schready, yo.
